Breathing New Life Into Old Figures

if you read my last post you would have seen that I picked up a few figures from the Firestorm games tabletop sale day and this week I’ve spent rebasing one of the purchases I made

I got this lovely unit of 28mm Highland Infantry which had been based up for Black powder and I wanted to use them in my Sharp Practice game. In total there were 36 figures all based in units of 4 which broke down to:-

  • 2 Command stands – 1 officer, 1 NCO, 2 ensigns, 2 musicians, 2 Grenadiers
  • 1 Grenadier stand
  • 1 Light infantry stand
  • 5 Center Company stands

The first job was to remove the figures from the bases, which was simple enough to do, although a bit messy. Then I glued the figures onto new 20mm square bases thinking I could just add some basing material and they would be done. But once I had a good look at them I decided to touch up a few bits and generally smarten them up.

this actually didn’t take to long and over this week I’ve managed to finish them all off and they are all on there nice new bases.

this is the unit before I started

and this is them now

in all I have 3 groups of Regulars (a mix of Center and Grenadier companies) and a group of Light infantry, the officers and musicians are on my paint desk now and I should have them finished by tomorrow.

obviously this has meant that I need a few more figures so i can field a complete Highland force in Sharp Practice so I have a couple of sprues in the post which will allow me to do another 2 groups

Mike – I’ve been looking for 4 x 2 bases for Sharp Practice but haven’t been able to find any. Any chance you let me know where the bases you’re using here came from?
