Painting Progress – Thog and Conan the Warlord

after a long hiatus I’m back painting my Conan miniatures again and today I can show off what is possibly my favourite model in the whole game, that being Conan the Warlord.

one of the things I really like about the Conan game is the way they have included lots of different versions of the great man himself and this one is an absolute gem of a model, for me its exactly how I imagine Conan. its based on the description in the short story ‘Black Colossus’ and we see Conan at the peak of his power

as is normal here’s some pictures of the raw plastic

and here’s the finished version

Next up is Thog a monster from ‘Xuthal of the Dusk’ or ‘The Slithering Shadow’ as the story was originally called.  I think this was around the time that Howard was friendly with H.P. Lovecraft as the description of the monster really did sound like something out of a Cthulhu novel. This really comes across in the model as you will see

first up the plastic unpainted

and now painted up
