Rommel – Looking at Base Sizes – Part 2
Written by MikeH, August 31, 2017, 2 Comments
in my previous post I discussed which base size I would use for Rommel (this is obviously after I’d based up a load of them on 80×60 bases) and I decided to try out a smaller size of 70×50
so here’s the prototype base which I thought I’d share
first up an old style base
as you can see I placed the unit card underneath the base so it stuck out by about a centimeter which whilst convenient it was a bit of an eyesore
here’s the new version
this is 70×50 and I’ve left the bottom 8mm clear so I can attach the unit information as needed
and the 2 bases side by side
all in all I really like the new style base, I think it’s big enough to allow for some nice diorama’s but small enough to allow for bases to be placed into a single square together with some terrain (which I might also do on simliar sized bases)
Nice, we are more or less reaching the same solution!
My bases are 6 x 4.5 cm (for 3mm armor) and I have left a 1 cm band for writing with an erasable pen.

I think that base size will be perfect for 3mm, I love the images on your blog
